How can parents help their children learn Hindi?

Here are some suggestions to help children learn Hindi.

  • Start teaching your kids Hindi at a young age. Remember, kids learn speaking before they start writing. So listening to Hindi while they are young will make it easy for them to learn it as they grow older.
  • Kids learn a language by listening and speaking so make the language fun to listen and learn by teaching poems, telling them stories, teaching them tongue- twisters, songs and riddles in Hindi. You will be amazed at how the kids memorize and understand words through these activities.
  • Repetition is important while learning something new. The more we repeat, the better we retain. Interact with your kids every day to make Hindi a part of their daily life.
  • The more they hear Hindi, the better they will understand and become comfortable to speak Hindi.
  • Be consistent, be patient and persevere. Do not be discouraged if they don’t reply in Hindi, they are still listening to you.
  • Set realistic goals. For eg, if you want your child to learn 50 new words every month: have them learn 2-3 words every day and revise them during the weekends. Use tools like flashcards, apps, and multi-media to encourage your child to learn Hindi. Tips to use Hindi at home
